Dominican Rep.--Accommodations
Current Status
While the Dominican Republic faces some challenges with reliable electricity, the overall climate for team accommodations is very good. Sharing Teams build homes for refugees in the day, and rest in the evening comfortably. These are ideal accommodations with good SECURITY for incoming teams. TELECOMMUNICATIONS, both phone and internet access, are accessible in town and in most hotels. There is running water, and sometimes air conditioning!
Staying In-Country
Details like FOOD, LODGING and in-country TRANSPORTATION are all arranged in advance by our Field Director and staff. Currently, teams live in close proximity to Puerto Plata. We travel each day from our team accommodations to the project site and other activities. Meals are generally served at restaurants, at the project site or back at a team house. We choose locations that we hope to be a haven for you to rest up from the day's work, fellowship with other team members, and have personal time with God.
Details change from time to time, so check back as your trip date approaches.
Peir Giorgio Hotel
The scenic overlook is breathtaking! The Pier Giorgio Hotel captures the beauty of nature and simple creativity of those who constructed it. Rooms are air-conditioned and breezy balconies provide a safe and comfortable place after hot days. Security is provided round the clock, though you will never feel like it is needed.
Crossroads Retreat Center
Teams of young adults house bunk-style in this one-of-a-kind sanctuary. From thatched huts overlooking "eternity" to Africa-style meeting lofts for great times of fellowship, this is a place that will live in your memory for a lifetime. The buildings are bright, with windows and breezes that allow for a cool night's rest at the top of this beautiful, jungly ridge.
