Dominican Rep. --Accommodations: Rooms
Current Status
The Northern coast of the Domincan Republic is visited frequently by tourists from the USA, Brittain and Germany. The area is better off than some developing nations. However the poorest of the populations live just a few minutes away from the hotels and guest houses.
Peir Giorgio Hotel
Pier Giorgio and his wife came from Italy to build this “Mediterranean Hideaway.” It is a beautiful place that the Giorgio’s have made available to our teams at our limited budget. The uniqueness of this Italian run hotel and restaurant is nearly breathtaking! From the cliff side view of the ocean to the sculpted veranda overhangs, it is an amazing place that seems to capture the beauty of nature and simple creativity of those who constructed it.

Rooms are air-conditioned and the hotel has backup generators to make up for the frequent power outages of the local area. Hot and cold water in the showers and sinks makes recuperation from the workday a welcome "event!" Breezy balconies along with bottled drinking water provides for a safe and comfortable place to come home to after hot days working with home construction or medical care for Haitian refugees. Security is provided round the clock, though you will never feel like it is needed.
Crossroads Retreat Center
Teams of young adults house bunk-style in this one-of-a-kind sanctuary. From thatched huts overlooking "eternity" to Africa-style meeting lofts for great times of fellowship, this is a place that will live in your memory for a lifetime. Rooms are basic open dormitories with men and women housed separately. The buildings are bright, with windows and breezes that allow for a cool night's rest at the top of this beautiful, jungly ridge.
