Liberia--Sharing Faith

Faith and Religion

Liberia is a nation of torn lives. As a result there are many who have turned to religion. But many times this search for religion leaves more lives shattered than before. Often Christian-labeled pastors manipulate the dire needs of those seeking answers, sometimes taking what little their "flock" had to begin with.

Liberian Believers

God's Love

Our goal as a team is not to stir up more "religion" than is already present, but instead, to allow the love and compassion of God to flow through us to those we serve. We enjoy fellowship of local believers and look for opportunities to reach others who do not yet know how to beleive. Many words are spoken about God's love, but we have learned our acts of service are what bring those words to life. Then when we do share words of hope with the people, as those presented in the Jesus Film, people understand that with our words there is real truth demonstrated by acts of caring.

Purpose of Sharing Faith

Many times the places we visit have so little hope. Sometimes "witch doctors" are the only ones attempting to treat sickness. Our main purpose is to show that there really is a God of love, and that while believers still have problems, they also have hope. Many are joyful to learn God came in the flesh even for their small village, to take the punishment for all past mistakes on himself. As we show a presentation of Jesus' life and death, many come to understand how sin separates humanity from God, and how Jesus cleanses away those mistakes through the punishment he took in our place. It is not our desire to compel people to believe, but to show them a clear presentation of the Christian message so they can make up their own mind.
