Sierre Leone: Arms or Legs

Here in Sierra Leone at the King George home for the elderly there are many heartbreaking stories.  Each occupant has one.

One of the ladies, a permanent resident here, faced a terrible choice one day.

Our sister here is one of the few at the home that actually chose the confinement of a wheel chair.  What happened on that day?

Rebel forces attacked and the innocent were often the victims.  Our friend was given a choice...a horrific choice.

“Listen to me!” cried an angry soldier.

“Today you have the choice.  I will destroy your arms or I will destroy your legs.  You decide!”

The words of hatred are hard to imagine, much less, deeds...forced amputation...  Somehow our friend survived, but she will never walk again.

Teams minister to her...and to others. They are amazed by the warmth of the people.  It comes easily when the compassion of the Lord flows through his children.

You also can make a difference by joining a Sharing Team.  Or you can give so that others can have their hope restored.
